CBS 2 Heroes - From Volunteer to Employee

Turns out volunteering is good for more than your soul.  It can also get you a job.  A study from the Corporation for National and Community Service finds volunteering is one of the newest ways to get a paying job.
RSVP of Linn County Coordinator Kayla Paulson is a good example.  She volunteered with a woman who would end up being her predecessor. She says, "I already knew her and I trusted her...I felt very comfortable when I applied."
Paulson adds it's a great way to network with Boards of Directors and clients served by the organization.  And while it's a great way to hone skills, volunteering should never replace job training.
