FBI Recovers 105 Sexually Exploited Minors
WASHINGTON, D.C. (CBS 2/FOX 28) --
More than one hundred missing children and teens have been recovered this week, after a three-day nationwide prostitution sting by the FBI.
Each of the 105 victims ranged between 13 and 17 years old, and all had been sexually exploitated.
Officials say they have also arrested 150 pimps and other individuals.
The sweep was called Operation Cross Country.
It was part of the FBI's Innocence Lost National Initiative, which focuses on underage victims of prostitution.
It took place in 76 cities across the U.S. with the help of state, local, and federal law enforcement officials, and the FBI says it was the largest such action to date.
Since the Innocence Lost Initiative was created, officials say more than 2,700 children who have been sexually exploited have been recovered.
