Eastern Iowan Promoted To General

ROSEMOUNT, MN (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- An eastern Iowa native was promoted to Brig. General at the 34th Red Bull Infantry Division of the National Guard.  Ben Corell received his promotion at a ceremony Wednesday.  The 34th Infantry includes thousands of members from Minnesota and Iowa.
"This promotion isn't so much about what I've done, but about what I'm going to do and what the expectations are."  Said Corell.  "I see a responsibility that I have with this promotion and assignment.  It is to shape this organization as a collective and to pull each individual up to their highest potential."
Corell grew up in Strawberry Point.  He and his wife raised three sons, all of which are now members of the National Guard.  His family was on hand to take part in the traditions that come with becoming a General.  Corell's wife Beth, along with Maj. General David Elicerio, placed his new shoulder boards on his uniform.  His sons, Wade, Travis and Tyler, presented the customary one-star flag, belt and pistol.
