Waterloo Police Make Arrest in Murder

WATERLOO (CBS 2/FOX 28) - Waterloo police say they've arrested 32 year old Antonio Deshawn Hutchins in connection with a fatal shooting in late June.

Police were called to the Kum & Go Convenience Store at 1976 Franklin St the evening of June 25th on a reports of shots being fired.

When they arrived they found two people had been shot. One victim, Cederick Matlock later died from a gunshot wound to the chest. The second man, William Burt was shot in the upper left arm.

Police say witnesses say Hutchins and another man walked up to matlock, Burt and a third person in the parking lot of a nearby Save More Food. Hutchins then started shooting at Matlock who took off running towards the Kum & Go.

Hutchins, according to the criminal complaint, kept shooting at Matlock who was eventually struck in the chest by a bullet, Burt was hit in the arm while Hutchins was shooting at Matlock.

Hutchings is being held in the Black Hawk County Jail on $1 million bail, charged with First Degree Murder.
