Furloughs Hit Iowa National Guard
CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- Some members of the Iowa National Guard will face furloughs as a result of steep across the board federal budget cuts. The so-called sequester cuts will mean members listed as federal technicians will be forced to take one day a week off for 11 weeks.
Col. Greg Hapgood of the Iowa National Guard tells CBS 2 News the cuts should affect 15-20 members at the Cedar Rapids Armory. The furlough days run through September, which marks the end of the fiscal year.
