Heavy Rains Producing Major Flooding

INDEPENDENCE, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- Heavy rains have sent the Wapisipinicon River and other streams out of their banks Wednesday Morning.  Record flooding was expected in Independence and Anamosa after more than six inches of rain fell across parts of Buchanan County.
Crews are now working to block off flooded or washed out roads and volunteers are attempting to save the Water Treatment Plant in Coggon.  Sandbags are available at two locations in Independence, the City Shop on 12th St. NE & West Elementary School on 1st Street West.
Authorities in Delaware County are advising motorists to stay off of county roads because so many roadways and bridges are flooded or washed out.
