Catholic Sister Honored for Feeding the Hungry

 DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) -- A Quad-City nonprofit group is honoring an 87-year-old Catholic sister for her work to feed the hungry.
   The group Senior Voice inducted Sister Ludmilla Benda into it Senior Hall of Fame.
   During a Wednesday ceremony in which Benda became the sixth recipient of the annual award, former Davenport Mayor Ed Winborn described her as "the Mother Teresa of Davenport.
   Benda has for years fed hungry people on Sunday mornings in Davenport.
   Among her other accomplishments has been serving as head administrator at the former Mercy Hospital in Davenport and Mercy Hospital in Chicago. She also helped found Bettendorf Health Care Center and was its first director.
