Center Point Couple Searching for Stolen Antique Signs

CENTER POINT, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28)--A corridor couple needs your help finding their stolen antique signs worth more than $6,000.

From afar it looks like just another barn but this barn once had some treasures on its wall.

"We've had a lot of people compliment it because it's a little bit of Americana. They are signs from the early 1940s,” said Dusty Sylver.

There were collectible gasoline signs including Texaco, Sinclair and Standard, all stolen Sunday night after the storm.

"It's just frustrating you know. Very frustrating when you come home and something like that happens,” she said.

Dusty walked outside to check for damage when she noticed the signs weren't on the wall.

"I got a little closer and realized someone had come in and actually unscrewed them. So then I ran up and got Mike.”

Mike and Dusty had eight of the antique signs pinned outside their barn.

Now they are left with just one and it also happens to be the least expensive.

They immediately called the police and are still waiting to hear from them.

"Even if somebody came and dropped the signs back, nothing would be said. No charges would be filed. We want the signs back,” she said.

For now, she's says she's waiting and hoping for a little justice.

"There's a lot of sentimental value to the signs,” she said.

Dusty and mike say they have a reward for anyone who finds the signs.

They are asking you to call the Linn County sheriff's office.
