Dubuque Street Reopens in Iowa City
IOWA CITY, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- Continued decreases in the Iowa River level have allowed the City of Iowa City to reopen North Dubuque Street between Foster Road and Park Road. However, motorists are asked to proceed with caution due to the previously scheduled interchange reconstruction project by the Iowa Department of Transportation (IDOT).
IDOT has closed the westbound off-ramp of Dubuque Street as part of the interchange reconstruction project, and suggests that drivers use the 1st Avenue exit (Exit 242) from Interstate 80 as the recommended detour. The eastbound on-ramp from Dubuque Street to Interstate 80 is now open. All of the Interstate 80 ramp intersections with Dubuque Street will be controlled by temporary traffic signals. Dubuque Street between Linder Road and Foster Road is reduced to one lane in each direction.
Dubuque Street between Foster Road and Park Road is also reduced to one lane in each direction. Drivers should also be aware that the continued high river levels decrease the capacity of the Dubuque Street storm sewers, which makes standing water on the road likely during locally heavy rains.
