Father Says Daughter's Death an Accident

ANKENY, Iowa (AP) -- A 51-year-old Ankeny man says shooting his 18-year-old daughter to death was an accident.
Scott Hazelbaker told KCCI-TV on Tuesday that he would never intentionally shoot his daughter.
Hazelbaker has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and assault. Police say he and his daughter, Emily, were at the apartment they shared when he pointed a handgun at her around 5:30 p.m. Friday and pulled the trigger.
He says that his attorney advised him not to discuss details of what happened that evening.
Hazelbaker says Emily was his best friend and that he will have to live for the rest of his life knowing that he killed her.
