Elderly/Disabled To Lose Certain Paratransit Services In Iowa City

IOWA CITY, Iowa (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- Riders in the SEATS program in Johnson County took another hit Tuesday.

The Iowa City city council voted to contract with Johnson County on paratransit services; however, the county is cutting funding to the program, so the city can’t afford to keep all services once tied to the program.

The contract essentially means all riders in Iowa City will lose the half-price fare and Sunday service rides starting this coming September.

The council approved the resolution with the notion that they will find some sort of alternative method of helping those in need get where they need to go.
