Old A&W Building Likely To Be Demolished
CEDAR RAPIDS (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- The Cedar Rapids flood recovery committee voted today to demolish the old A&W restaurant on Ellis Blvd. NW.
Many community members have been trying to save the 51-year-old restaurant, which has been closed since it flooded in 2008. But several redevelopment plans have fallen through, and flood committee chairman Don Karr told CBS 2 Thursday, “The city just can't keep doing this.”
The final decision to demolish the building will be made by the full city council, which is likely to agree with the committee vote.
