Cedar River Crests in Waverly

WAVERLY, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- It appears that the worst is over for the city of Waverly.  Flood waters are now falling after cresting Wednesday morning along the Cedar River.
City officials tell CBS 2 News the river is now falling, but slowly.  Minor flooding was reported, forcing crews to shut down roads now underwater.  One road closure forced the Waverly-Shell Rock School District to cancel classes at Southeast Elementary Wednesday.  The school is not in any danger and leaders there plan to open tomorrow.
Our crew on the scene spotted the HESCO barrier which failed in one section, sending water in the community.
City leaders warn that even after the flood waters recede, the 3rd Street SE bridge will remain closed until it can be inspected.
