Getting the Geese to Go Away

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (CBS2/FOX28) So we were supposed to meet a gaggle of geese at the amphitheater in Cedar Rapids for a story. We heard thats where they hang out.

"There were 30 geese out here, sunbathing on the sidewalks and in the grass," said Kayla Davis, who walks through the performance place often while she takes a break from work.

So we waited, and waited, and waited some more. But they geese never showed up. Then we heard the Goosebuster.

Every ten minutes or so, different sounds get played through the speakers, not to put feathers in seats, but to keep them away.

It's going to be hard to get rid of these geese because they've been around here for years and years," said Kendra Prizler, who doesnt mind the geese being around when shes walking her dogs.

Davis was happy the geese were out of sight during her walk this afternoon.

"They don't move sometimes you can literally walk on top of them and you just can't get them to move, said Davis.

And with the geese come the presents they leave behind.

"It'd be pretty obnoxious to hold events down here if there if there would be goose droppings everywhere. I haven't noticed to many today, said Bridgette Lockman, who was seeing the amphitheater space for the first time.

At least for now, it seems to be working. Its not the post pleasant sound for humans. The geese couldnt be reached for comment.
