CRPD Make Arrest in Cold Case

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- Cedar Rapids Police Monday announced an arrest in a 14 year old murder case.  Last week, 34-year-old Deshaun Lamonte Phillips was arrested in Minnesota and charge with First Degree Murder in the death of Judith Weeks.
   The 44-year-old woman was found dead behind a home on 2nd Avenue SE in Cedar Rapids back on April 5th, 1999.
   "This case was thoroughly investigated at the time of the offense but there was insufficient evident to file charges."  Said Sgt. Denni Randall of the Cedar Rapids Police Department.  "Recently, investigators were specifically assigned to this case and developed new information regarding Phillips that they pursued, which resulted in the filing of this charge."
   Phillips was arrested in Shakopee, Minnesota.
