Rudd was shot by two teens, who then stole his car.

Rudd had attended a class reunion in Cedar Rapids last week, and had dropped off his son to spend the rest of the summer with his parents who live in Cedar Rapids.

It was while returning to his Virginia home that he was shot in Ohio.

Police later arrested 17 year old Devonere Simmonds and 18 year old Nathaniel Brunner after an off-duty police officer found the pair sleeping in Rudd's car.

Brunner was arraigned Tuesday morning in Columbus, Ohio whre bond was set at $1.5 million.

Brunner and Simmonds are the main suspects in a series of shootings and murders which left three people dead and a fourth man wounded.

Rudd's parents say he underwent facial reconstruction surgery on Monday where doctors used a rib to replace his shattered cheek.
