Cedar Rapids, IA -- The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announce that OF Jason Kanzler and INF Engelb Vielma have been activated from the 7-day disabled list and that INF Carlos Avila and catcher B.K. Santy have been given their unconditional release. Brad Steil, Director of Minor League Operations for the Twins, announced the move.

Vielma and Kanzler both went on the DL back on May 14 with a right hamstring strain and concussion respectively.

Santy played in 15 games for the Kernels, batting .204 with two HR and 9 RBI. Avila played in three games for the Kernels, batting .333 with a double and 2 RBI.

Kanzler and Vielma are both active and available for tonight’s 6:35 pm game with Beloit. With today’s transaction, the Kernels roster is at the MWL maximum of 25 active players, with five players currently on the DL and one player on the Restricted List.

The Kernels wrap up a three-day home stand against Beloit tonight at 6:35 pm. It’s Free Money Wednesday, presented by First Federal Credit Union, as First Federal will hand out $500 to fans, age 18 and older, when the gates open at 5:30 pm with the top cash prize of $100.
