Palo Breathes Sigh of Relief as Cedar Crests

Updated: Sunday, June 2 2013, 08:29 AM CDT

PALO (CBS 2/FOX 28) - Residents in Palo can breath a little easier - the worst of the 2013 flooding is past.

City officials say the Cedar River at Palo hit its crest at 15.67 feet at 10:0 p.m. Saturday night.

Officials say the water level will now start receeding and should be back to its normal levels by Tuesday.

However, officials are still urging those living in low-lying areas to watch for ground water seepage and to check the effectiveness of sump pumps regularly until the river is back in its normal course.
