Fugitive Using Stolen Identities

Updated: Tuesday, June 24 2014, 05:50 AM CDT
WATERLOO, IA (CBS2/FOX28) - A North Carolina fugitive who was caught in waterloo was using the identities of dead children.
The man was arrested in April after a facial recognition system flagged his driver’s license.
Officials say they found weapons as well as information in his home that showed he was 68-year-old Ronald Dwaine Carnes.
Records show Carnes was convicted of robbery in 1970 and sentenced to 20 years but escaped in 1973.
Now, the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier reports that Carnes had used the names William Henry Cox and Louie Vance and was collecting benefits under both names.
According to court records, investigators found that the names and birthdates he used belonged to real people who died in accidents as children.
In both cases, the social security numbers were assigned after Carnes had escaped.
