DOT: I-380 Will Stay Open

Updated: Thursday, May 30 2013, 03:37 PM CDT
CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- With talk of flooding on the Iowa River, many are wondering about the fate of one of the busiest highways in eastern Iowa.  Interstate 380 between Swisher and North Liberty has been shut down twice, the first time in 1993 and the other in 2008.
Cathy Cutler with the Iowa Department of Transportation says there are currently no plans to close the interstate because of high water.  Cutler says the current forecast keeps the river level below the threshold for flooding along the Interstate.
Cutler says that could change if more rain falls and the forecast calls for higher river levels, but at this time there is no indication that the Iowa River will affect travel along Interstate 380.DOT: I-380 Will Stay Open
