Humidity will be high and will push the heat index between 95-105 degrees. Make sure to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun.

Ankeny Police Shoot, Kill Armed Woman

ANKENY, IA (KCCI-TV) - An Ankeny police officer shot and killed an armed woman Saturday night.

Officers were dispatched to a residence on Southwest Springfield Road just after 5 p.m. after receiving a report that a woman was armed with a gun and was suicidal.

When they arrived they found 59-year-old Marilyn Denise Boyd with a semi-automatic firearm.

Police say Boyd refused commands to drop the weapon and pointed the gun at an officer prompting the officer to shoot her.

Boyd would be taken to Mercy Hospital where she would later die.

The name of the officer involved in the shooting in not being released at this time, but Ankeny Police do say the officer has five years of experience with the department.

Ankeny police has called the Division of Criminal Investigation to investigate the shooting.Ankeny Police Shoot, Kill Armed Woman
