Governor Branstad on DPS Chief's Resignation

Updated: Wednesday, September 4 2013, 01:38 PM CDT
DES MOINES, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- Iowa Department of Public Safety Commissioner K. Brian London has resigned after a rocky tenure that lasted less than a year. London submitted his resignation to Gov. Terry Branstad on Tuesday evening. Branstad's office confirmed the resignation and announced the appointment of Larry Noble to return to lead the department that he left last year. London's resignation comes after months of negative publicity for the department, which includes the Division of Criminal Investigation and the Iowa State Patrol. London has been sued for his role in the firing of DCI special agent Larry Hedlund, who contends his superiors retaliated against him for filing a complaint about Branstad's speeding state vehicle. London apologized last month to the Philippine ambassador to the U.S. for telling employees that Filipinos were hard to polygraph.Governor Branstad on DPS Chief's Resignation
