May is "Older Americans Month" and with aging comes forgetfulness. Courtney Axline, Director of LearningRx, helps ease our minds by explaining the differences between "typical aging" and symptoms of Alzheimer's.

1) Symptom: Poor judgment
Typical aging: Making bad decisions from time to time
Not typical: Making frequent bad decisions or using poor judgment based on the facts provided (e.g., being taken advantage of financially)

2) Symptom: Decreased perception
Typical aging: Decreased vision due to cataracts
Not typical: Decreased ability to judge distance, color, or contrast

3) Symptom: Problems with conversation
Typical aging: Forgetting a word that's "on the tip of your tongue"
Not typical: Regularly struggling to find the right word, repeating phrases or stories, referring to items incorrectly, stopping in the middle of a conversation
