CBS 2 Heroes - Families Helping Families

When foster children would arrive on Leanne Loehr's doorstep, they would have a black garbage bag filled with items they grabbed at a moment's notice.  They often had very few of the basic items needed for a child's life: tootbrush, school supplies, clothing, even shoes.
With a $100 donation, Leanne grabbed a few friends and started the Clothing Closet.  It was full on donated items for these kids.  From there, was born Families Helping Families of Iowa.  The organization, now 8 years old, helped 1700 kids in 24 counties last year.  It's a one-of-a-kind resource that now not only provides clothing, but pays for after school activities, tutoring, and anything else "extra" that non-foster kids often enjoy.  The organization is funded by grants and private donations.  If you'd like to contribute or volunteer, go to: 2 Heroes - Families Helping Families
