CBS 2 Hero: Hospice Worker

Updated: Thursday, December 19 2013, 08:13 AM CST
His  day begins at 4 a.m. and includes everything from clean-up to
Christmas Tree set up at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of
Mercy in Hiawatha.

Those who get to know Dave, know that's just the beginning.  Look closer, and you'll see Dave does so much more.

"In
a quiet way, he just brings out this energy and warmth and kindness and
compassion."  Sarah Harris' family has gotten to know Dave during her
mother's stay at Hospice. "He doesn't have to say, 'I know you're going
through a hard time.'  He just knows."

A chance reading of the
want ads in the newspaper led him to the janitor job at the Hospice
House of Mercy.  Four years later, he thinks fate is what brought him
here.

Families would agree.  Dave is the calm in the storm for
these families going through the toughest of times.  He embodies the
true spirit of a hero.  Dave Faur:  selfless, compassionate,
unconditionally supportive to complete strangers, who are better for
having known him. CBS 2 Hero: Hospice Worker
