CEDAR RAPIDS (CBS2/FOX28) --
At 11:45am on September 19th, the Cedar Rapids Police Department responded to the Dollar General store on Mt. Vernon Road SE for a robbery report.
Witnesses told officers that three men entered the store, all wearing dark hoodies and masks. At the time, two of the men displayed handguns.
The suspects took an undisclosed amount of money and cigarettes before leaving the area southbound between the strip mall and the HyVee Drug Store.
As police investigate this incident, they also continue to search for the suspects in a robbery that took place at 11:37am on Sunday, September 16th at the Family Dollar store on Mt. Vernon Road.
During that robbery, two men wearing dark hoodies and dark jeans demanded cash, and one of them displayed a handgun.
They, too, left heading south between other buildings.
Officers are attempting to determine if these two robberies were connected.
