CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (KGAN) -- Caleb Statezni has an idea of what he wants to be when he grows up.

"Mostly a policeman," he says.

Caleb is one of a hand full of second graders at Cedar Valley Christian School that enjoy when one of Cedar Rapids finest show up to teach the class. The lesson on Monday was all about gun safety.

"A lot of kids are so intrigued with the gun they are just so fasinated by it," says Officer Glenn Kieler.

Officer Kieler uses the classes to teach students on the importance of living a crime free life. Many of his lessons are  taught with the help of characters the younger students can understand.

"I think it's very important to start teaching about gun safety now,"

Officer Kieler says the classes just aren't about gun safety. Students from grade school to high school are learning about bullying, cyber crimes, and who to talk to when reporting a crime. He tells CBS 2 the classes appear to be doing the job. Cedar Rapids Police have been a part of the classroom for a number of years now. Officer Kieler has been talking to area school students for the past 12 years.
