Created in the Corridor: Trade Show Marketing

Updated: Monday, December 30 2013, 08:08 AM CST
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (CBS 2/FOX 28) - The creativity and expertise of a Cedar Rapids company can be seen all over the country. It's mission is to help businesses and non-profits be more successful. You could say it's a company behind other companies Created in the Corridor.

“Maybe they just need a small table top display or maybe we’ll have somebody who’s going to a big event and they need a big island display,” explains Barb Lindstrom as she shows CBS 2's Scott Sanborn
around the attention-grabbing showroom of Trade Show Marketing. She's been a part of the company since 1991 and took ownership almost fifteen years ago. “I Talked to a lot of people and I felt like it was the right move.”

Trade Show Marketing does exactly what its name implies; work with clients to showcase -- at trade shows -- who they are and what they do. From simple banners all the way up to portable meeting rooms, Trade Show Marketing helps companies look their best. Much like the internet their products can be the great equalizer. Says Lindstrom, “People can be working out of their garage but they put the money and effort into the backdrop at the show and people have no idea that they’re just a really small company.”

Among Lindstrom's thousands of clients are the University of Iowa, The Cedar Rapids Convention and Visitors Bureau, Alliant Energy and Great America Financial. “They’re engaging," says Matt Doty, Great America's Vice President of Corporate Communications.  "They’re interested in your success and they want to help you be more successful.”

Whether it's helping clients design a logo or using their existing brand to create an image-enhancing display, Trade Show Marketing knows the tricks of the trade. “You’ve got 3 to 5 seconds to catch someone’s attention at trade shows," explains Lindstrom, "and so you want to make it look good.”  One of TSM's five employees, Diana Brayton has 27 years of experience in the industry with a background in graphic design. “I can help them pull out the essentials that they need for their banner, their display, whatever,” says Brayton.

It's also amazing how portable many of the displays are. One fits in a backpack and with just a flip of a switch, it inflates to full size. “When people do get here they are shocked at how cool it is," says Brayton of the company's showroom. "Even if someone is a year down the road thinking, ‘I don’t know what I want to do,” you can get ideas here.”

Trade Show Marketing is a distributor of Skyline products which are manufactured in Eagan, Minnesota. You can even rent displays at Trade Show Marketing. We have more information in the News Links section of this website. Created in the Corridor: Trade Show Marketing
